How do you support milestones at each age level?
We take an individualized approach to supporting developmental milestones. Every child grows at their own pace, and our job is to make sure they have the right activities and encouragement to thrive. To do this, our teachers create detailed lesson plans each week with purposeful activities tailored to their group’s age and developmental stage. Our leadership team reviews each lesson plan, ensuring that every activity has a clear goal (for example, a fine motor activity to strengthen little fingers, or a listening game to practice attention and memory). By planning with intention, we cover all areas of development – cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and language – in a well-rounded way.
In practice, this means we’re always tracking how children are progressing on key milestones and adjusting to meet their needs. If a child in the class needs a bit more support in one area (say, speech pronunciation or potty training), we incorporate strategies into the program to help them. If another child is ready to be challenged further (maybe they’ve mastered a skill early), we provide extensions or next-step activities to keep them engaged. This responsive planning ensures no child is overlooked. Our teachers also communicate with parents about milestone progress, so we can celebrate achievements together and partner on any skills that need extra practice at home or school.
