What happens if my child becomes ill during the day?

If your child isn’t feeling well while at Playto, we will respond with care and keep you informed right away. Our teachers are very attentive to signs that a child may be getting sick (for example, unusual fatigue, fussiness, feverish feeling, or other symptoms). Whenever a child seems unwell, we send a quick message through our parent app as a heads-up to let you know. This way, you’re never surprised and can decide if you’d like to pick your child up early. You always have the ability to decide if your child should remain in care for the rest of the day or not.

However, if a child develops more serious symptoms that require exclusion from daycare (for instance, a fever over our health policy threshold, vomiting, a suspicious rash, or any symptom that indicates a contagious illness), we will call you immediately to arrange for pick-up. We’ll explain what we’re observing and make sure your child is kept comfortable and closely watched until you or your emergency contact arrives. We know it’s hard when your little one is sick, so we’ll do everything we can to soothe them while waiting. Our policy is to err on the side of caution – if in doubt, we believe it’s best for the child to go home, rest, and recover. We’ll also provide guidance on when they can return (typically once symptom-free for 24 hours, see our illness policy for details). Your child’s health and well-being are our utmost concern, and we appreciate partnering with you to make sure they get the care they need.
