What is your toddler curriculum focused on?

In our toddler classrooms, the highest priority is social-emotional growth. This is a big age for feelings and independence! Our teachers spend a lot of time helping toddlers learn to identify and name their emotions (“happy,” “sad,” “frustrated,” etc.) and guiding them in simple strategies to manage those big feelings (like taking deep breaths or using words/signs to express needs). We also focus on developing social skills with peers – for example, practicing sharing toys, taking turns, gentle hands, and cooperative play with friends. Toddlers are also encouraged to build self-help skills that boost their independence and confidence, such as washing their own hands, helping clean up toys, or trying to put on their shoes.

Of course, we still address all the other important developmental domains too! Toddlers at Playto explore early language and math concepts, engage in music and art, and build their physical coordination every day. But we recognize that helping them feel secure, understood, and capable of forming friendships is the key focus at this stage. By nurturing these social-emotional foundations, we set the stage for happy and ready learners.
